Nathan Whittington is the Emergency Management Manager for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Office of Emergency Management and serves as President of the Colorado Emergency Management Association (CEMA), bringing more than 20 years of experience in emergency management, public safety, and disaster response. He previously served as the Director of Emergency Management for Gilpin County and as the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness (CSEPP) Program Manager and State Emergency Operations Center Operations Officer for the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, where he led emergency preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives across local, state, and federal agencies. Throughout his career, Nate has deployed to numerous major disasters, including the September 11 terrorist attacks, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Maria, and multiple large-scale Colorado wildfires, while also serving more than 15 years with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Bureau as a Dive Team Leader and member of the wildland fire and search and rescue teams. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Grand Canyon University and is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP), and graduate of the Colorado Emergency ManagementAcademy.
